Lindsey Shafer is a Head Start/Early Head Start Coach in northern California, where she works closely with infant/toddler caregivers, preschool teachers, and center directors. She has been working in the field for 11 years in various roles including preschool teacher, directing both Head Start and Early Head Start programs, and as a specialist. Lindsey was instrumental in the first research case study on Learning Stories with Dr. Annie White. She has been working with using Learning Stories in the Early Head Start program since 2014. Currently, Lindsey coaches teachers and directors on writing Learning Stories. She facilitates a Learning Story inquiry group for educators in Placer and Nevada County, CA. Lindsey has offered online webinars and has presented conference workshops on the topic of Learning Stories, including using technology, documenting S.T.E.M. learning, and how Learning Stories are used as a powerful tool for family engagement.
Lindsey is passionate about using Learning Stories to strengthen relationships, foster reflective teaching practices, to inspire discovery and exploration, and encourage play. She has begun to use Learning Stories with adults and is writing Learning Stories to the educators that she coaches.
